Woolgate Exchange, Coleman Street, EC2

Project:Woolgate Exchange, Coleman Street
Client:Deutsche Bank
Contractor:Balfour Beatty
Package Value:£1,000,000
Year:1998

A large scale office development for Deutsche Bank, situated in the heart of London’s business sector, adjacent to the Bank of England.

The project had 3 basement levels and 9 upper floors, our works required the building of 150,000 internal blocks, along with 110,000 external facing bricks.

Brick arches were pre-formed and the use of sophisticated logistical planning allowed crane lifting into position. Part removal of scaffold and part exclusion zone of building footprint was required during lifting periods as the arches weighed 1.5 tons each.

Our brickwork was specifically designed to complement large Portland stone façade elevations and both stone and brickwork interphased regularly during the construction process. The Health / Safety practises and welfare facilities provided on this scheme were acknowledged by our operatives to be the best they had experienced.
